Communities: Pitana Bajo, El Carmen, Ballenita, & El Tambo

Pitana Bajo – B3 partnered with the President of Pitana Bajo and eight surrounding communities to build a medical clinic. The Ecuadorian government committed to providing doctors and medical staff as well as equipment and supplies. The clinic is operational and helped people injured from the 2016 earthquake.

El Carmen – B3 worked with the community and Nuevos Horizontes to construct 3 large classrooms to provide separate space for younger children in their pre-K program. There was a substantial earthquake that year as our April teams were departing. El Carmen was very close to the epicenter. Those 3 classrooms that B3 built were among very few buildings that survived the earthquake..

Ballenita – B3 worked with Director Marisol Santos of Escuela Malena to build 2 classrooms and 4 bathrooms, adding to the existing classrooms built by B3 in 2007. The school aspires to educate students from kindergarten to 10th grade.

El Tambo – B3 partnered with Unidad Educative Mushuk Kawsay, a local trilingual school, to construct 2 large classrooms to alleviate overcrowding in the existing classrooms servicing students from preschool through 7th grade.
