2018 Dominican Republic
Communities: Batey Palmarejo, Campo Verde, El Carrizal, & Los Tocones
Batey Palmarejo – B3 worked with MUDHA (Movimento de Mujeres Dominico Haitiana) to build 3 classrooms for Escuela Anaïsa. The school is designed to be part of a larger and comprehensive education program to work with the community and develop programs linked to health, nutrition, environmental education, and gender equity issues.
Campo Verde – B3 worked with Bellrminio and the Compo Verde Committee to build an Agricultural Community Center that will be used for storage; the production of items like cream, milk, cheese, and chocolate; and the preparation of crops/goods to go to market with the goal of increasing the profitability of farming and creating a more stable economy.
El Carrizal – B3 partnered with the Peace Corps to construct 3 new classrooms to alleviate overcrowding in the existing school and improve the opportunity for better education.
Los Tocones – B3 worked with the Peace Corps to construct 2 new classrooms and a comedor (“cafeteria”) at the high school to alleviate overcrowding.
