2013 Guyana
Communities: Bethany, Mashabo, Festival City, KingChes & Wakapau
Bethany – B3 partnered with the organization Food for the Poor to construct a community center to be used for workshops in literacy training, cultural events, job skills, and medical clinics.
Mashabo – B3 worked with Food for the Poor to replace a cement footbridge to connect this severed Amerindian lake village.
Festival City – B3 partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a community center for meetings, clinics, classes, training, sporting, and cultural events.
KingChes – B3 worked with the community to build a community center to provide homework assistance, literacy training, health education classes, and organized sports.
Wakapau – B3 partnered with the U.S. Peace Corps and Tashao (village leader) to construct a community center and bridges connecting the islands of Wakapau. The community center will be used for literacy and health training, after-school tutoring, village activities, and events. The sand bridges were logged and milled from island resources and will provide safer travel.
