2004 Dominican Republic
Community: Mao, Los Jaquimeyes, & Guerrero
Mao – B3 partnered with Children International to build a basic multi-purpose center to meet the needs of more than 5,000 children. The center is currently used for dental campaigns, job training, parenting classes, after-school activities, neighborhood meetings, medical clinics, etc.
Los Jaquimeyes – B3 worked with Global Missions to build new homes for residents of this small agricultural community. Much of the village was destroyed during the wrath of a major hurricane, which resulted in many people becoming homeless.
Guerrero – B3 worked in partnership with The Nelson Foundation to build the first phase of a complex to serve the medical and educational needs of this barrio of 10,000 residents. The foundation created preventive health programs, classes for single mothers, and provided after-school programs for children.
