Communities: Boruca, Finca Puntarenas, Santa Rosa

 

Boruca – B3 worked with the community to build an environmental / cultural learning center with 2 bathrooms. The center will be used for multiple purposes including training for sustainable farming, the environment, reforestation, and the traditions and culture of the Boruca people. Boruca is being considered as a Unesco World Heritage Sight.

 

Finca Puntarenas – B3 worked with the community and local government to build a community center to replace the existing center that was no longer safe or functioning. The new center will offer technical and trade classes, health and environment classes, and will be used by various groups in the community for meetings and events. This is located in the center of town and is a perfect meeting spot for various groups and families.

 

Santa Rosa – B3 worked with the community and local families to begin construction of a small community center and refurbishment of an arena used for multiple events in this small farming community. The community center was quickly put to good use as a COVID vaccination and testing site. In addition, it houses offices for the local committees and is large enough to provide space for meetings, events and workshops
